Terms of Service

Version 2026-04-26 · Effective 2026-04-26

The agreement

These terms are a contract between you and BeSecure (“we,” “us”). By using BeSecure — by forwarding email to it, creating an account, or visiting the site — you agree to them. If you don't, please don't use the service.

What the service does, and what it doesn't

BeSecure is a phishing-detection tool. You forward suspicious email to our scanning address; we run automated analyzers and email back a verdict. The verdict is informational, not authoritative. Phishing detection is probabilistic: we will sometimes miss real phish (false negatives) and sometimes flag legitimate mail (false positives). You remain responsible for decisions about which messages to open, click, or act on.

We make no warranty of fitness for any particular purpose. Don't use BeSecure as your sole line of defense, and don't use it for time-critical decisions.

Your account

You must be at least 16 years old (or older if your jurisdiction requires it) to create an account. Provide accurate information and keep your credentials confidential. You're responsible for actions taken with your account; if you suspect unauthorized access, change your password and email us immediately.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms, abuse the service, or are dormant for an extended period after attempts to reach you.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Forward content you don't have a lawful right to share with us.
  • Use the service to harass, defame, or invade privacy.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer the analyzers, probe for vulnerabilities outside an agreed program, or evade rate limits.
  • Use the service to scan domains or systems you don't own or have permission to test.
  • Submit content that's illegal where you are or where we operate.
  • Resell access, brand the service as your own, or operate a competing scanning service on top of ours without written permission.

We can rate-limit or block any account or IP that we reasonably believe is abusing the service.

What you keep, what we get

You keep ownership of every email and attachment you send us. By submitting them, you grant us a limited license to process them solely to perform the scan and produce the verdict, and to keep scan metadata (URLs, hashes, threat-feed lookups) so the service can learn over time. We do not sell or share submission contents with third parties beyond the sub-processors listed in the Privacy Policy.

Anonymized aggregates (counts, common patterns, hash-only data) may be retained indefinitely to improve detection.

Pricing and billing

The free tier is currently the only tier. Paid tiers, if and when introduced, will have their own terms presented at signup. Tax is your responsibility unless we're required to collect it in your jurisdiction.

Service changes and availability

We may add, change, or remove features, or take the service down for maintenance. We aim for high availability but do not commit to a specific uptime number. If we discontinue the service, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice and a way to export your data first.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these terms or the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, and (b) US$50. We're not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, lost profits, or lost data.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law (for instance, statutory consumer protections in your jurisdiction).

Indemnity

If your use of the service or your violation of these terms causes us to face a third-party claim, you'll cover our reasonable defense costs and any damages awarded, except where prohibited by law.

Termination

Either of us can end this agreement at any time. You by deleting your account; we by closing it after notice (or immediately for serious abuse, illegal use, or unpaid fees). On termination, we retain data only for the durations described in the Privacy Policy.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. We'll first try to resolve any dispute informally — email us at privacy@linkdetect.io and give us a chance to fix it. If a dispute can't be resolved that way, courts of competent jurisdiction in United States have exclusive jurisdiction, except that consumers in other jurisdictions may also sue or be sued in their local courts where local law gives them that right.

Changes to these terms

We'll update these terms occasionally. Material changes get a new version stamp; we'll re-prompt you to accept the new version on next sign-in. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
